Text Box: Time for Change– on a personal note.....

Turning 50yo puts a new perspective on your way of thinking. Well it did for me, anyway!

Looking back at the past 50 years and reflecting on what I have done and the many memories I have, whether
they be good, bad or just plain indifferent, they have all gone to make up who I am today and the direction my
life has taken to now.

Recently I have spent a lot of time pondering on what I want to do with the next 50 years (hopefully I am blessed
with at least even half that time frame of good health!) and has me arriving at some important decisions.

One major change is that I have decided to wind down the breeding operations of our stud, Inspiration Farm.

I established the foundations of the stud in 1986 with the purchase of my first part-bred Saddlebred -
Canyonleigh Too Impetuous from Canyonleigh Stud, whom I still own today at the grand age of 28yo.

Almost a decade and a half since breeding my first foal from that mare and some 25+ pure and part-bred horses
later, I have had many a happy moment (e.g. birth of a foal) along with the unforseen trials and tribulations
of owning, breeding and selling horses and in particular, the American Saddlebred breed in this country.

Having a child at a later age also has had a lot of bearing on my decisions and although I would love for
him to enjoy the same love of horses and animals, as I know he does already, I do not expect him to have to
follow the same direction unless he is genuinely interested in doing so one day.
Right now just getting him a pony/horse of his own to enjoy is enough.

So, as of the end of breeding season 2011-2012, Inspiration Farm will no longer be breeding American
Saddlebreds.
This will also be your last opportunity to breed to our two current stallions Canyonleigh Gold Bar and Harlem’s
Hot Shot.
Both stallions will then be permanently retired from breeding duties (i.e. gelded!), to become
useful riding horses.
We have one foal due this year (November) by Harlem’s Hot Shot (out of our mare Canyonleigh Kartanya) and
intend breeding two or three more foals this season for myself to enjoy.
After that, I have a couple of breeding commitments to fulfil and then I hope to be able to focus on riding mostly for my own pleasure.

Some horses may eventually be offered for sale or lease, to approved homes only, depending on my future
circumstances.
Proceeds from sales and services will be going towards building the foundations of my other passion, animal welfare, rescue and re-homing work, of which I have already been involved in for the past 4 years already.

Finally, I would like to say, thankyou to our supporters, friends and purchasers of our horses and stallion
services over the past 15+ years. Most of the homes our horses have gone to have been the best that I could
have wished for them.
Others.. Well..., sometimes we can't always choose where they end up .. and sadly, there are
some unpredicted outcomes and some horses I wish I had never let go in the first place.. but such is the
nature of breeding and selling horses...

and with that I move on to the next phase of my life... of which horses will always remain a part of to some degree....

Cheers — Lesley
